Interview: NxCxPx

Interview with NxCxPx / Chuck Datuin

So how does it feel to be back? Did you always know that NxCxPx would make a comeback or did you think it would happen sooner than it has?
It feels good to be back and see old time friends around again. We never really left the circle nor even think of drawing to a close, It was never planned.  It's just that we need to focus on some priorities. We still get in touch with friends but not as regularly like we always did. We just had a pause for quite some time for some reason, but we never desist. Now we're back to spread turmoil again.

Are you actively rehearsing again with the other guys or is it just a short one-time reunion?
We had a little conflict with schedule, personal matters and priorities, L.A went cruising for a couple of years to work , Paul and I got married and had kids to take care of, manage family matters and daily Grinds , Arje got a girlfriend, got busy and etc.. Few years back , We had this side project we called PISSED-OFF PROTEST but didn't last, We had Nhoiz our drummer from CONDEMENED(ph)to back-us-up but only done a couple of shows till he went abroad to work. L.A came back and now here we are. Hopefully we can accomodate as many shows as possible. It depends on our schedules.

What have you been up to since the release of “ExtremeViolencia”? It has been a pretty long time since your last new material was released. Do you have any other releases in the works? Please tell us about them.
Now we started rehearsing and a demo is now in progress, hopefully we can release it this year.
Yeah we're coming up with new slugs.

Is there any unreleased NxCxPx material that we might get to hear in the future?
We have few RAW tape recorded shits back then, But I have to do some digging ha!!

Do you think grindcore is getting more recognition these days? Could you say something about what it is that appeals to you playing this kind of music?
Really, We're unaware of that hehe, It's good to hear that new bands coming in,playing shits unappealing to everyone.  What inspire us is the integration of the noises that we are into and love. Personal inspiration would be everything under the sun that sucks and pisses us off..life ,reality, politics and everything in between.

Do you think having good lyrics and songwriting is important in grind/crust music? Seems like a lot of bands nowadays don't even bother to write decent lyrics anymore.
We speak from our points of view. With songs EXCEEDING 20 secs I would say YES, it requires us to put words on it.. Not with the micro songs, We do title / lyric with it.  What we love about micro songs is that its like a slap in the face. No need to put effort to execute it. You know that feeling when you are mad and you want to kill someone because he always pisses you off, you only say few words and hit him!!! It's that simple.

A common conception about grindcore is that it can't be good due to the length of the songs among other things. Why do you think grindcore is great and what does it offer that other styles of extreme music don't?
It's straight to the point and can be applied in reality. In real life if you talk a lot, you could probably say something stupid.  GRINDCORE is like WAR and you have do it quick. We don't play our shit just to be different. Punk/crust/grindcore/hardcore/powerviolence in general represents views on things. Playing the music is just part of it, no pressure , doesn't prove anything. Your Agenda and how you handle thing is what matters.

Having been active musicians for a long time now, how does one productively balance band life
with personal responsibilities like day jobs?
We don't really consider ourselves musicians. We are still the same pissed off individual like before. Reality changes and we have to adapt. We see circumstances in different perspective because that is the right thing to do.  Simple way to balance this kind of lifestyle is know your priorities and responsibilities. The person you see who slaughters onstage is totally different person offstage. Everyone can be brutal and hateful onstage and yet can also be humble and friendly..especially in front of your kids hehe. I don't know a single person cruel enough with those whom he value most.

Do you have a great admiration to serial killers?
Not really, But I've read some articles about the famous ones like DAHMER , BUNDY, MANSON, HITLER.

Have you ever contemplated about how such serial killers feel about lyricist and gore enthusiast such as yourselves, using their twisted state of mind for lyrics and themes?
Not really, But I'm curious on what's running through their sick minds. For the Lyricist and gore enthusiasts. In my own opinion, could be how they express the ugliness of things and frustrations. I know a lot who are passionate about it. It's part of Science and Art anyway, so it's cool!! Seriously?!.I would really like to know the psychology behind the mind of serial killers. It could be dangerours to be one if you can't control it.Psychopathy!! However, there are research that they are highly intelligent. See the DARK TRIAD!!

If you are to be a serial killer, who would you be and what sorts your will your victims be?
I would say BUNDY the Infamous one for murdering multiple victims in one day. I would love to Kill a corrupt politician and child rapist.

And how would you like to die?
Blown by grenade I guess.

What would you say set you apart from the majority of other grindcore bands that are out there?
Nothing special , We just love to share our shit to everyone who understands us. Grindcore is LOVE!!!

What are some of the bands and albums that you have been listening to lately? What are some newer bands that you've heard lately that you recommend?
Same old stuffs. We don't particularly listen to one genre. We also love listening to hardcore/punk/crust/powerviolence to raging grindcore stuffs and the likes. I came to across some bands integrating Sludge/Hardcore/Grindcore and I love it. Heavy SHIT!!

What can we expect from the band in the near future?
Hopefully to finish recording new stuffs and play more often.

If there's a movie or book about Noise Conspiracy Project, who would be in it and what would it be about?
What a silly question haha. Book YES / Movie NO. It could be anything about WAR and TERROR would do.

Well that just about wraps up the questions I had for you, anything you'd  like to add? Alcoholocaust!!!
Thanks for the interview and cheers man!! See you all around!!!
